Whether you’re a cheesemaking aficionado or a once-in-a-blue-moon cheesemaking mad scientist, having all the right cheese ingredients on hand is very helpful. As avid at-home cheesemakers from Wisconsin, we at The CheeseMaker know what it is to be passionate about cheese. That’s why we’ve created an amazing list of ingredients to help you on your cheese making journey, including this vegetarian liquid rennet.
This Vegan friendly Organic Microbial Liquid Rennet is an excellent option for making vegetarian-friendly cheeses, especially, soft cheeses. The enzymes in this microbial rennet are derived from sodium chloride and Mucor miehei, a fungus that helps mitigate the fermentation and development of cheese from milk. As such, it is completely vegetarian (as opposed to traditional rennet that is extracted from animal enzymes) and helps make a delectable selection of fresh and creamy cheeses.
To use this double strength rennet, simply add 1.2 ml or a 1/4 teaspoon to 2 gallons (7.5mil) of milk. The active enzymes in the rennet will help curdle and solidify the milk, an important step in the cheesemaking process. Vegetarian rennet is best used for soft cheeses as it won’t give the same effect that’s needed to make hard cheeses such as parmesan or gorgonzola. The Organic Microbial Liquid Rennet is perfect for goat cheeses, camembert, and even softer cheddars or blue cheese varieties.
In fact, this organic rennet is multi-use: it’s great not only for making cheese but the perfect addition to any kombucha supplies pantry. The Organic Microbial Liquid Rennet comes in 5 size options, each of which comes in a plastic squeeze bottle for easy, convenient use.

Very good product. We have been using the double strength rennet for a while and this one is as good as any we have tried. The best thing about this one though is that we can't find it anywhere else for this price. Definitely a good deal.

This product did what it said. I made cheese for the first time ever and it turned out chevre. The only mistakes were my own. I didn't order the cheesecloth that was recommended and needed to put a little more salt. The second batch turned out great. I also want to say my order from the cheese maker arrived at my house in about 2 days. Everything was as described. Very nice company to do business with. Received an email from the owner if I needed any help making my cheese to call him. That's pretty impressive especially from an online company. I gave it a 4 because I don't have anything to compare it to so I don't know if it's the best.
