FUNNEL with OPTIONAL STRAINER INSERT

Helps make straining whey easy. These are excellent funnels, not your everyday store bought funnel. They will not stain or harbor bacteria. A removable fine mesh strainer disc is optional. Made of food grade nylon, BPA free. 

This funnel and straining screen is perfect to strain your tea/water mixture when making Kombucha.

 

The screen is too fine to strain Kefir. Use one of our stainless steel strainers when straining kefir as these strainers have the perfect hole size for Kefir straining.

    Unfortunately the included plastic screen is too fine. Have to use a separate strainer. Note from Steve/TheCheeseMaker: This funnel and screen is excellent for straining Kombucha Tea, yet the description does state, 'The screen is too fine to strain Kefir.'     I spent a long time looking for a food grade 2 quart funnel. Leave it to a cheesemaker to have the right thing A big thank you from another cheesemaker.

    This funnel worked great for filling the plastic gallon milk jugs after I have skimmed the cream off the wider mouth jars. It is very stable for as large as it is. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that while the filter in theory is good, because the milk still needs to fall so far down into the jug it still creates a lot of foam so need to fill the jar in two steps or the foam overflows. I was hoping the screen would reduce the foam.

    it works great and it is so easy to clean. We use in the house for the last straining of the milk. Our first intention was to use it in the barn as soon as we pour the milk in the milk pale but it is a tad too big. But it works great for in the house for the finale pour.

    I actually didn't buy it for cheesemaking. I use it to drain cooled down oil out of my deep fryer. Works great!

    I love this strainer for kefir! It is great to be able to pour it all in at one time. Seems like it will stand up to daily use
